The Dawson Family

Strengthening UTSA through family commitment and purposeful investment

After more than two decades as an engaged UTSA supporter, Sam Dawson agreed to serve as the Be Bold Campaign Leadership Council Chair, helping to lead the university’s largest fundraising campaign in history.

Alongside UTSA President Taylor Eighmy and a Campaign Leadership Council comprised of over 40 community leaders and donors, Dawson helped shape the future of the university through Be Bold: A Campaign for Our Future. His brother Gene Dawson also has been instrumental in advancing UTSA’s growth, serving as the Roadrunner Athletics Foundation president for more than a decade and playing a key role in supporting the Bold Champions Athletics Campaign.

Together, Sam and Gene operate the Triple Dawson Family Foundation, which has made transformative contributions to the university. Their contributions have helped bring to life initiatives such as the Roadrunner Athletic Center of Excellence and the Student Success Center in the Margie and Bill Klesse College of Engineering and Integrated Design. The Dawson Family’s impact extends even further through their family company, Pape-Dawson Engineers which actively recruits UTSA graduates and shares the belief that what is good for UTSA is good for San Antonio.

Areas of Philanthropic Impact

The Dawson family’s giving has contributed to UTSA’s physical growth and created student-focused resources in multiple colleges.
