Healthy Water, Healthy People

See why graduate students are engaging in water quality fieldwork with a public health focus at Cibolo Creek in Boerne

Graduate students Ronny Saunders and Cassidy Lane have been conducting water quality research at Cibolo Creek in Boerne as part of the Chemical Hydrology and Mass Spectrometry Lab in the College of Sciences. The lab focuses on issues of water resources and water availability in addition to better understanding the different metals and organic compounds found in the water. Research projects like this are often linked to key health impact assessments. Saunders and Lane both hope their efforts contribute to improved water quality that can bolster public health.

Watch the video below to learn more about the work that Ronny and Cassidy are doing in Cibolo Creek, and find out what drew each of them to hydrology research.

  1. It’s wonderful to see our scientists-in-training doing such meaningful work, protecting both our community and the environment. Clean water will be increasingly scarce, and therefore imperative, in the future, so we need more global citizens with these crucial skills.
